ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a mid-level Games Developer with 3+ years experience to join our mobile games team. Firstly, you'll help us refresh the Sing King app, turning it into the best singing experience on mobile, living up to the reputation our YouTube audience expects from us. In the future you will help ideate and develop the next generation of games and experiences that celebrate the joy of singing. This is an opportunity to join a newly established team of experienced developers where you can showcase your skills, be exposed to a variety of challenges and see the results of your work take shape in real time. While Unity mobile experience is beneficial, we are also open to candidates with relevant software experience who are excited about working in games and contributing to our mission.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Implement new gameplay features in Unity: UI, logic, data flow, and performance optimisations.
  • Help maintain existing features, modernising code, and debugging inherited legacy systems.
  • Build and iterate new gameplay prototypes with Game Design, Art and Product.
  • Integrate backend APIs and live ops features to grow our audience.
  • Participate in code reviews, uphold best practices for code quality, scalability, and maintainability.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Growth Mindset - Ideally you'll have 3+ years of experience working on one or more Unity titles. However, it matters more that you have strong problem solving skills, care deeply about the end user experience, possess a strong desire to learn, and feel comfortable with at least one statically compiled language (C#, C++, Java, Swift, Rust etc).
  • Technical Diligence - You value version control and code review, you are architecturally curious, you maintain documentation. You advocate for your ideas by speaking to both their benefits and their drawbacks. You strive to leave things better than you found them, whilst also having the patience to fix things incrementally. Where you lack familiarity you will always try it once before forming judgments.
  • Enthusiastic Flexibility - You can move fast or slow. You can bash out quick prototypes that maximize learning, or you can carefully avoid cutting corners to deliver robust code. You're always happy to tackle new challenges. It's not that you don't know how to do it, you just don't know how to do it yet.
  • Culture & Collaboration - You're solutions-oriented, and thrive in small, creative teams. You bring ideas to life by collaborating with designers and artists, and enjoy moving between gameplay, systems and live ops - where the impact is needed.

BONUS POINTS

  • Passion for karaoke, rhythm games, or community-led mobile games. (You will never be asked to sing in front of others, but a willingness to test features goes a long way)
  • Experience with Firebase, Braincloud or other backend-as-a-service platforms.
  • Mobile games experience, multi-platform development or live service games.

HOW WE WORK

  • We're a small team, so we move fast and experiment often.
  • We believe in creative exchange and collaborative ownership.
  • We prioritise ideas that make our players feel something - joy, energy, expression.
  • We operate a hybrid working policy at Sing King and expect a balance of office (3 days) and home working (2 days) for this role - our office is in Farringdon, London.
  • We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
  • We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels they belong, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply, even if your experience doesn't align perfectly with every requirement.
  • We are dedicated to making our recruitment process accessible to all. Please let us know if you require any adjustments (for example, interview location, structure, or materials in an alternative format).
