Clinical duties
This is a fixed term post for 6 months (with the option to then further extend) which has become available due to service gap. An induction will be provided to your placement explaining roles and responsibilities as well as your workplace. A Trust induction will also be provided after starting in your allocated post.
Key Responsibilities:
- To join and document ward meetings, morning meetings, ward reviews and at times chair/lead these as well.
- Perform clinical assessments of individuals with mental health problems admitted to the ward.
- Develop knowledge of mental health, including formulation of care plans and provide support to more junior team members.
- To perform physical health checks (bloods, ECGs and physical examinations) and liaise with general hospital/GP colleagues to maintain patient physical health.
- Develop psychiatric interview and risk assessment skills.
- To complete medical recommendations for detention under the Mental Health Act.
- To prepare reports and present evidence at Tribunal hearings with appropriate supervision where necessary.
- To be flexible and accessible in providing appropriate care to the patients.
- To work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- To comply with the trust values, policies, and procedures.
- To participate in quality improvement work (e.g. audit, service development, etc.).
