We're partnering with a high-growth, venture-backed retail technology company that's transforming how major global retailers design and optimise their store layouts. They're now hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to work at the cutting edge of large-scale optimisation and algorithm design, directly impacting how thousands of physical retail spaces are planned.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner directly with enterprise clients to understand complex planning needs and constraints
  • Design and improve large-scale optimisation algorithms for real-world applications
  • Evolve and extend an existing production system using JavaScript and Rust
  • Prototype and introduce AI/ML approaches into optimisation workflows
  • Contribute to solving a highly complex combinatorial optimisation problem
Experience:
  • Strong grounding in algorithms and mathematics background
  • Experience building or improving complex system logic or optimisation engines
  • Comfortable in JavaScript and/or Rust (or happy to learn quickly)
  • Confident in client-facing environments – able to extract requirements and challenge assumptions
