12 Month Fixed Term Contract, hybrid working 1 day a week / fortnight in the office.Meraki Talent are working with an Investment Manager to help identify them a Legal Counsel to support their General Counsel in managing the organisation’s legal affairs and risks. Working closely with other members of the Legal Team to provide advice and support to the Board and wider business. This role will involve advising on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters, as well as liaising with external counsel when required.The Legal Team undertakes a wide scope of work, including regulated procurements, commercial and IT contracts, data privacy, Freedom of Information Act requests, corporate governance, and support to the Compliance and HR functions. The team also advises on investment management-related legal matters.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain a strong working knowledge of all relevant legal obligations affecting the organisation.Provide advice on contracts and agreements, including:Employment contracts and engagement documentation for employees, consultants, and workers.General procurement, including regulated procurements under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.Supply of goods and services contracts, particularly IT-related agreements.(Depending on experience) contracts and documentation relating to investments, including pooled fund and private markets investments.Assist with FOIA requests, advising on exemptions and drafting responses from a legal perspective.Provide advice on data protection matters, including compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.Support the identification, reporting, and prioritisation of changing legal obligations through horizon-scanning and assessments.Facilitate legal advice to colleagues across the business.Research, interpret, and disseminate updates on applicable laws and regulations.Support the implementation of legal and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.Provide line management and guidance to junior members of the Legal Team.Person SpecificationQualified lawyer or experienced in handling a broad range of legal matters.Strong knowledge of commercial, procurement, data protection, and corporate governance law.Experience of working within a regulated or complex organisation, ideally with exposure to financial services or investment management.Confident in drafting, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of contracts.Skilled in horizon-scanning and interpreting evolving regulatory landscapes.Pragmatic, detail-oriented, and able to deliver as a “completer-finisher.”Comfortable challenging and influencing at all levels of the organisation.Values-driven, with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collaborative working.Strong IT and business application skills.
