Role: Locum Occupational Therapist
Location: Kingston, London
Rate: £40-£44 an hour
Hours: Full time ideally
Contract Length: Ongoing
About the Role: As a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will work as an autonomous practitioner across a range of settings. You will provide high-quality occupational therapy to support children and young people with disabilities in reaching their full potential. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the assessment and support of occupational therapy needs and offering specialist advice to other professionals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a specialist caseload of children and young people with complex physical, learning, and social needs
- Writing reports for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and multidisciplinary assessments and reviews
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in clinical assessment and intervention as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience in, or a strong interest in, paediatric occupational therapy
- Knowledge of child development, neurodevelopment, and childhood occupations
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively, demonstrating initiative and a solution-focused approach
- Skilled in assessment, treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with professional standards
- Ability to produce clear, concise reports for use by multiple agencies
- Experience with a range of therapeutic techniques, including standardised and non-standardised assessments
- Understanding of physical and developmental disabilities and their impact on occupational performance
- Participation in clinical audits and/or research
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey sensitive information with empathy and reassurance
- Ability to reflect on and critically appraise own performance
- Experience delivering OT programmes and supporting others (e.g. school staff and caregivers) through training and advice
