Our client, a respected and award‐winning Building Services Consultancy, is seeking an accomplished Associate Director – Electrical Design Engineer to join their Maidstone office. This senior leadership role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a client‐facing environment, excels in technical delivery, and is ready to take ownership of major UK and international projects.
Responsibilities:
- Acting as primary client interface on major commercial, residential, mixed‐use, and student accommodation projects
- Leading the electrical design strategy across all RIBA stages, including HV/LV systems, power resilience, life‐safety systems, and complex infrastructure
- Coordinating with architects, contractors, external consultants, and multidisciplinary internal teams
- Supporting workload planning, resource allocation, recruitment input, and team development
- Providing design governance, technical oversight, and mentorship to junior and mid‐level engineers
- Leading and attending design team meetings, presenting confidently to senior stakeholders
- Undertaking site inspections and translating findings into actionable technical direction
- Ensuring projects are delivered to scope, programme, and commercial objectives
- Collaborating with wider business leaders to support company strategy and growth
- Taking responsibility for fee management, forecasting, and reporting to senior leadership
Requirements:
- 10+ years' experience within a UK Building Services Consultancy, with a strong portfolio of delivered projects
- Chartered status (C.Eng) with CIBSE, Engineers Ireland, or an equivalent institution
- Expertise with industry‐standard software such as Dialux/Relux, Amtech, and working knowledge of Revit/CAD
- Strong multi‐disciplinary awareness across mechanical, sustainability, and public health sectors
- Proven ability to lead teams through detailed design stages, technical reviews, and complex coordination
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with confidence presenting at senior levels
- Up‐to‐date understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Policy requirements
- A strategic mindset with the ability to contribute to business development and company growth
