Venesky-Brownβs client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit an International Student Admissions Assistant for a temporary one month contract, on a rate of Β£15.14/hour PAYE. This role is based full time on site in Sighthill. Responsibilities: β Managing enquiries from international customers in person, by email or by telephone. β To arrange and undertake online and face to face interviews with international applicants to assess applicantsβ suitability. β To liaise with staff to set up interviews, auditions and screening assessments. β To actively monitor and track applications to ensure they are processed within agreed timescales. β Assisting with arrangements for incoming groups. β Assisting with arrangements for international programmes delivered online. β Liaising with internal colleagues including the international team, curriculum teams, finance and IT to ensure a smooth process for international applicants. β Liaising with international clients, agents and students in advance of course start dates to gather information required. β Providing a consistently high level of customer service support for incoming groups during their stay. β Processing course applications and preparing offer letters. β Supporting the induction for incoming groups, including preparing pre-arrival and arrival information, preparing and delivering induction presentations. β Leading social programme activities. β Providing support, including conducting support meetings, providing pastoral care, and tracking support offered. β Facilitating payments and updating records of income and expenditure in line with Finance procedures. β Suggesting and implementing improvements to systems, materials and procedures. β Update systems and maintaining accurate records of checks completed and evidence seen. β Check International qualifications using UK ENIC to determine UK equivalency. β Provide data for management reports where necessary. β Supporting the other activities of the International Team as required. Essential Skills: β Experience of working with people from a range of cultural and international backgrounds and non-native speakers of English β Experience providing customer service and support β minimum 1 year β Experience of data input and administrative skills β minimum 1 year β Educated to HNC Level (SCQF Level 7) or equivalent β Strong IT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office β Strong oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills and the ability to adapt to non-native speakers of English β Strong attention to detail and ability to organise information β Ability to work to own initiative and to prioritise workload especially at short notice β The post holder should be flexible and responsive to change, as tasks may change as the activity of the team evolves and develops β Able to demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills β Able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive student matters. β Must go through PVG screening process Desirable Skills: β Knowledge of Edinburgh and Scotland local information and contacts β Knowledge of the sector β Knowledge of UK visas and immigration legislation β Knowledge and awareness of cultural differences β Working knowledge of one or more relevant foreign languages If you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
