Finatal is partnering with a fast-growing, private equity–backed professional services business currently navigating a critical phase of scale-up and transformation. With an active buy-and-build strategy and increasing demands for financial insight, the business is looking to strengthen its strategic finance capabilities. To support this, we are seeking an experienced Interim Head of FP&A to lead the planning, forecasting, and commercial finance agenda during this high-impact phase of growth.
Role Overview
Reporting to the CFO, the Interim Head of FP&A will act as a strategic finance partner to the executive team, ensuring robust financial planning, insightful analysis, and strong decision support across the business. This role is well-suited to a commercially-minded finance leader with prior experience in private equity-backed, people-driven businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across the group.
- Deliver high-quality board and investor reporting with meaningful commercial insight.
- Build out and enhance FP&A models, tools, and processes to drive better decision-making.
- Partner with business unit leaders to understand key drivers and support performance management.
- Provide scenario modelling and support investment appraisals, pricing strategies, and resource allocation.
- Own the monthly reporting cycle, variance analysis, and key KPI tracking.
- Support ongoing M&A activity, including integration planning and synergy tracking.
- Drive data quality and systems improvements to enhance reporting scalability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent, with a strong FP&A and commercial finance background.
- Proven experience in a senior FP&A role within a private equity-backed, professional services or people-based business.
- Exceptional modelling, analytical, and communication skills – able to simplify complexity for senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment.
- Strong systems capabilities (e.g., Excel, Power BI, NetSuite, Adaptive Insights or similar).
- A hands-on operator who can build structure while driving strategic insight.
