Based in Huddersfield, we are a growing UK engineering company with an international customer base. Our projects combine bespoke engineering, industrial automation and process innovation, giving our engineers the opportunity to work on technically challenging systems from concept through to commissioning.

We are now looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to strengthen our engineering team and play a key role in delivering multi-disciplinary industrial projects.

What you'll be doing

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll lead the electrical design and control system elements of complex industrial engineering projects from initial concept design through to manufacture, testing and commissioning. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, controls engineers, manufacturing teams and customers to develop safe, reliable and commercially effective engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading electrical design activities across multiple engineering projects
  • Producing detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Designing industrial control systems, MCCs and power distribution solutions
  • Selecting and specifying electrical components, instrumentation and control devices
  • Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Ensuring compliance with IEC, ATEX, UL and other relevant industrial standards
  • Supporting manufacturing, FAT testing and commissioning activities
  • Producing technical documentation and O&M manuals
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of engineering standards and design processes

What we're looking for

We're interested in speaking with engineers who enjoy solving technical challenges and taking ownership of projects in industrial/process environments. You'll ideally have:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical design engineering within manufacturing, process, petrochemical, oil & gas or industrial automation sectors
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical (or similar electrical CAD package)
  • Strong understanding of industrial control panels, MCCs and power distribution systems
  • Knowledge of industrial standards and hazardous area environments (ATEX/IECEx advantageous)
  • Practical understanding of commissioning and site installation activities
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience with hazardous area equipment or intrinsically safe design would be advantageous but is not essential.

Salary & Benefits

£50,000 - £60,000 salary (depending on experience)
