Around 22,000 colleagues produce quality packaging for foodstuffs, cosmetics and industrial cleaning brands for many blue-chip clients across 182 ALPLA sites in 45 countriesOpportunity to work for a true market leader in sustainable plastic packaging, based at our state of the art flagship facility in Golborne Purpose The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for managing Health, Safety andEnvironment Management systems and activities across production and warehousefacilities. The H&S Manager will lead safety across the site identifying hazards, reducingrisk and preventing accidents.Reporting directly into Plant Manager, supporting wider H&S Team including H&S Coordinator and H&S AdministratorTasks & responsibilities: (Not limited to)Advise all levels of the site, providing technical support and motivating stakeholders to follow proper administration of health, safety and environmental programs.Implement ALPLA programs, apply relevant technical guidance and control physical, chemical, electrical, mechanical and ergonomic hazards and potential risk from the operations.Arrange Health & Safety training for all plant employees and communicate tool box talks.Promote a positive HSE culture amongst all employee groups, engaging stakeholders when appropriate.Facilitate a risk assessment programme for continuous review.Present incidents, near miss and injuries data for the management morning meeting and take corrective actionsArrange external risk assessments and surveysEnsure the management team undertake the management of change and impact assessments prior to variation effecting health, safety and environment.Participate in the management review processArrange a schedule of internal audits and reporting against the ISO45001 standard.Chair a programme of health and safety committee meetingsOther site team responsibilities and projects as may ariseEducation / Experience:Relevant qualification in HSE, NEBOSH Diploma / certificateSubstantial Health and Safety management experience within a FMCG organisation (ideally plastics / packaging) with knowledge and exposure to Distribution/ Warehousing functionExperience of a multi-site role with exposure to a variety of production machinery and associated ancillary equipment.Experience of managing external parties and 3rd party contractorsExtensive Knowledge of health and safety standards working within ISO14001 and 45001 frameworksExcellent MS Office user experienceAbility to analyse rules and guidance to assess business impactIdentify and analyse organisational needs with solid problem solving to provide pragmatic solutions.Line management experienceConfident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate peoplePlease apply to this position for immediate review – contact Kerry McCormick – ALPLA UK Talent Lead- for more information.
