Role Overview:

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining reliable, secure infrastructure and core platforms
  • Taking solutions from proof-of-concept through to production-ready deployments
  • Leading on the development and improvement of monitoring, alerting, and management systems
  • Embedding automation and DevOps best practices across environments
  • Collaborating with engineers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver robust solutions
  • Driving platform optimisation, performance tuning, and system reliability
  • Carrying out security assessments, vulnerability checks, and system hardening
  • Building and maintaining automation tooling using modern frameworks
  • Troubleshooting complex issues across Linux, containers, and cloud environments
  • Producing high-quality documentation and ensuring knowledge sharing across teams
  • Mentoring team members and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

Main Skills Needed:

  • Strong experience with Linux administration (e.g. Ubuntu) and Windows environments
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps and automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD, Git)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or similar
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management
  • Understanding of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Splunk, Nagios)
  • Solid grasp of security principles and system hardening practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple projects
  • Awareness of Agile methodologies and DevOps culture
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineers within a technical environment
