Job DescriptionDepartment: CopyrightJob Title: Global Disputes Administrator Reporting to: Global Disputes Manager Location: Home Working / London (Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office) BACKGROUNDWise Music Group is one of the World’s leading music publishers, owning and managing over 200,000 popular and classical music copyrights. The Group is privately owned by one family over several generations, and the UK Head Office is situated in London, in the West End.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:The Global Disputes Administrator supports the Global Disputes Manager in the delivery of effective management of the rights owned and/or controlled by the Global affiliates within the Wise Music Group.Key Objectives:To research and resolve Counter claims and Disputes in the UK for the Wise Music Group copyrightsTo find, review and analyse contracts and all other relevant documentationTo liaise with the affiliates and third party sub publishers for all counter claims and disputes for the WMG copyrights.To notify the affiliates and sub publishers when counter claims and disputes are resolved.To communicate and co-operate with PROs/CMOs and internal departmentsTo maintain detailed reports of the current status of all counter-claimed and disputed works.TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:COUNTER CLAIMSReview the PRS / ICE database on a daily basis for Wise Music Group copyrights entering the Counter Claim system.Research our claims and upload a redacted copy of supporting paperwork where necessary within the stated deadline, contacting our affiliate offices where relevant.Monitor any progressing claims by third parties and respond as necessary.Maintain the PRS / ICE Counterclaim system with the required information and keep detailed in-house notes.Chase up third parties for responses whenever necessary.For high profile works notify the affiliates and sub publishers of the counterclaim and ask that they check the work status in their local territory.Maintain a folder of redacted contracts for future use.DISPUTESReview the PRS / ICE database on a daily basis for Wise Music Group copyrights entering the Disputes system.Review the supporting paperwork that has been uploaded by the third party publisherKeep in contact with the third party publisher and update them with our findings.Maintain the in-house notes and also the PRS / ICE database where relevant.When a dispute has been resolved, notify the relevant sub publishers and affiliates.If our claim has been upheld we must ensure that all territories check the work is correctly claimed in their territory. If our claim is relinquished we must ensure that this is also communicated and the work updated accordingly.AFFILLIATE COUNTER CLAIMS / DISPUTESWhen an affiliate or third party sub publisher notifies us that a WMG work is being counterclaimed in their territory, you must act as the conduit for communication.The owning office must provide the documentation needed to uphold our claim but you will need to be kept up-to-date with the progress.Once the counter claim or dispute has been resolved, this must be communicated to all other relevant officesMaintain a record of such cases.SCANNING & FILINGScan all relevant documents to the File Director software and file for safe storage.SKILLS & BEHAVIOURAL REQUIREMENTS:QualificationsGood level of English and Maths.European language an advantage.A Legal qualification would be an advantageExperienceCopyright knowledge and experience is not expected but would be desirable.Experience with Rights Management Software (i.e. Vistex Maestro) and an understanding of Publishing contracts would be desirable.Experience of working as part of a team.An understanding of the various rules involved in the Disputes processesKnowledgeKnowledge of the Wise Music catalogues would be an advantage but not necessary.General knowledge of music of all genres.General rules and processes of the worldwide societies with regard to the counterclaims procedures.Knowledge of the flow of rights from the signing of a contract to income received for the copyrights controlled.Skills and AbilitiesThe ability to use the Internet as a research toolA good knowledge of Microsoft applicationsThe ability to prioritise workloadsGood communication and inter-personal skillsGood organisational skillsPersonal QualitiesTo follow instruction and guidanceAbility to work under pressureTeam playerHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailWilling to help with other tasks where neededAvailabilityCore working hours are 0930 to 1730 Monday to Friday, however you will need to be flexible and able to work additional hours as required ensuring deadlines are met.
