We are proud to be supporting a fast-growing technology company at the forefront of satellite and cloud infrastructure in their search for a Senior Network Engineer. Due to the sensitive nature of this engagement, the client's name will be shared with candidates at the shortlisting stage.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is building a next-generation network connecting satellites, ground stations, and cloud infrastructure. Operating across dynamic, intermittent links, their platform is designed to deliver data reliably into cloud-based workloads, a technically complex challenge requiring deep networking expertise. This role sits at the heart of their edge infrastructure, the servers and network devices deployed on-site at antenna locations to receive, demodulate, and transport satellite data to the cloud. It is a hands-on, high-ownership position spanning routing, overlay networking, edge systems, and cloud connectivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network Design & Architecture
    • Design L3 network topology across satellite, ground, and cloud environments
    • Define IP addressing schemes, segmentation, and routing domains
    • Model connectivity patterns and failure scenarios
  • Routing & Connectivity
    • Implement and operate dynamic routing protocols
    • Design route advertisement, filtering, and failover strategies
    • Handle intermittent and flapping connectivity gracefully
  • Overlay & Secure Networking
    • Build secure multi-hop paths with strong encryption and isolation
    • Implement secure tunnel configurations (WireGuard / IPsec)
    • Define and enforce SSH access policies, firewall rules, and least-privilege communication
  • Automation & Infrastructure
    • Develop automation pipelines using Terraform and Ansible
    • Support scalable rollout and configuration management across distributed sites
  • Operational Integration
    • Align networking behaviour with satellite scheduling and operational windows
    • Design safe state transitions and failover scenarios
    • Improve observability, monitoring, and alerting across the stack

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Our client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with strong technical fundamentals and a genuine passion for solving complex infrastructure challenges. You'll be comfortable working across architecture, implementation, and troubleshooting, and you take strong ownership of everything you touch.

Essential Experience

  • Advanced-level experience with IP networking and routing
  • Hands-on BGP experience covering design, operation, and troubleshooting; familiarity with distance-vector protocols
  • Solid Linux networking skills, including VLANs, MTU, TCP/IP, and complex NAT
  • Proven experience designing and operating VPNs and tunnelling technologies in distributed environments (WireGuard, StrongSwan, GRE + IPsec)
  • AWS networking expertise: VPC, TGW, Cloud WAN, VPN, and edge or hybrid networking
  • Strong grasp of overlay vs underlay networking principles
  • Extensive infrastructure automation experience with Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent
  • Scripting or coding ability in Python
  • Proven ability to debug complex, distributed systems

Desirable

  • Exposure to satellite, telecom, or RF systems
  • Experience with hardware operations, rack installation, or cable management
  • Broader cloud platform experience beyond AWS

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT

  • Work on genuinely novel infrastructure at the intersection of space, ground, and cloud
  • High ownership from day one, you'll design and ship, not just maintain
  • Join a technically exceptional team building something with real-world impact
  • Shape architecture at an early stage of a complex, mission-critical system
  • An opportunity that sits at the cutting edge of clean technology infrastructure
