Role Details:
The Project Lead Engineer role is to work in the Engineering team supporting the technical assurance activities associated with the design and implementation of both Onshore and Marine systems. The Scope of work is the replacement/refurbishment of existing structures, plant and equipment to comply with modern standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multi-disciplinary work packages and support Project Engineers.
- Deputise for the Engineering Manager and assist the Project Manager with consultants, contractors, and optioneering.
- Develop scopes, define requirements, and support early contractor involvement.
- Work closely with BIM/CAD teams and manage design activities in line with client standards.
- Review drawings, resolve technical issues, and approve contractor documentation.
- Provide oversight during construction and ensure compliance with design intent.
- Engage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and represent the client in meetings and presentations.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Support commissioning, training, site engagement, and project close-out.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
- Degree in Civil/Structural or related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of civil/structural engineering.
- Experience with the design and assessment of typical industrial steel and reinforced concrete structures.
- Knowledge of current codes and standards including British Standards and Eurocodes.
- Knowledge of current UK nuclear regulation and relevant good practice.
- Theoretical and practical skill and experience across concept design, detailed design and construction stages in heavy industrial and/or maritime civil engineering structures.
- Experience of working in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence), particularly in the design and assessment of safety-related structures, systems and components.
- Project engineering of work packages, including site implementation/integration, within a highly regulated environment.
Desirable:
- Working fully autonomously and as part of a team.
- Compliance with legislation and standards in a highly regulated industry.
- Reviewing and producing technical documentation e.g. technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, technical queries etc.
- Liaison with a range of stakeholders.
- Basic health and safety training for site visits.
- Chartered Engineer (MICE and/or MIStructE) status.
- Nuclear safety case.
- Nuclear safety committee/authorisation group knowledge and experience.
