Location: Balmaud Distillery, Yonderton, Turriff, AB53 5PTBe part of the beginning –Balmaud is a true Highland Single Estate Distillery, where every part of the whisky making journey happens in one place. Built in 2024 by the family who has farmed the land for generations. The family run distillery is set amongst the fields where the malting barley is grown and powered by green energy produced on the farm. Now with a team of skilled craftsmen, producing a new Single Malt Scotch Whisky alongside our pilot plant to produce other spirits.We are looking for passionate people to join us as we create a new whisky legend – where everyday’s work shapes a legacy that will ensure for decades.Our teamThe successful candidate will be joining a team of two, with over 50 years industry experience between them and a vast knowledge of every stage from malting through to bottling and exporting. As we voyage our way into full production the needs of the business are expanding, and it is excellent to have such skilled craftsmen who can turn their hand to any area that requires attention.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the distillery manager and head operator, candidate will process and observe the malting, mashing, fermentation, and distillation processes, as well as equipment performance and reliability, ensuring machines are set up and calibrated correctly, and perform basic maintenance. Assist in warehousing and all other distillery operations, ensuring all activities are carried out to the highest quality and safety standards.Intake raw materialsProcess of the raw materialsMonitor and record process information.Maintain a good standard of site housekeepingPerform maintenanceAssist with warehousing operationsAssist with tanker loading operations and take and record spirit accountsAdhering to HMRC, health & Safety, food safety and environmental complianceVatting, bottling and packaging of whisky and other spiritsAny other distillery operations as requiredExperienceCandidate will require to demonstrate good initiative and ability to problem solveAbility to work well on your own and within a teamStrong work ethicGood ability to accurately record data and act on results as necessaryDiligent with attention to maintaining high standard of housekeepingIT literateMinimum 5 years’ experience requiredPrevious engineering experience is an advantageMay be required to work additional hours as necessitated by the needs of the business.Salary will be dependant on experience.
