We are working with a leading medical technology business in their search for a Lead Development Engineer to join their Device Development team in Cambridge. This is a 6-month temporary contract, with a strong likelihood of extension, offering the chance to contribute to the development of innovative, patient-focused medical devices. As Lead Development Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, testing, and developing medical device components and associated test equipment. You’ll provide technical expertise and direction to project teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and supporting continuous improvement across device development. Core responsibilities include:Producing high-quality CAD designs for device parts and test equipmentPlanning and conducting development analyses and empirical testsPerforming data analysis, interpretation, and reporting for manufacturing and technical areasWriting and reviewing specifications, validation documents, and risk management filesApplying regulatory standards such as ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and 21 CFR 820.30Supporting internal teams and external partners with technical expertiseDriving improvements to processes, documentation, and compliance within the development functionAbout you:Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design (2:1 minimum)Strong CAD experience – proficient in creating detailed 3D models and drawingsProven experience in medical device design and development is highly desirableSkilled in testing, validation, and regulatory documentationExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsCollaborative approach with strong communication skillsAble to work effectively across internal teams and external partnersThis is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to contribute to life-changing medical technologies within a highly respected business.
