Morson are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Pipework Component Design) to support a major Small Modular Reactor (SMR) nuclear new build programme, helping deliver next-generation clean, safe and reliable energy.
The Role
- You'll be responsible for designing high-integrity pipework components used in a safety-critical nuclear environment, working closely with engineering, manufacturing and supply chain teams.
- Design pipework components to ASME III / B31.x / EN 13480 / PED standards.
- Produce technical specifications, calculations and design substantiation.
- Review drawings, supplier documentation and materials.
- Support audits, inspections and technical assurance activities.
- Engage with suppliers to resolve engineering queries.
- Provide technical guidance and peer reviews.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in pipework component design.
- Strong understanding of nuclear / high-integrity design codes.
- Experience producing safety-critical engineering documentation.
- Exposure to fabrication, manufacturing or installation environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder skills.
Requirements
- HNC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered status or working towards (desirable).
We anticipate paying a salary of between £48,000 - £62,500 DOE plus:
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%.
- Benefits Allowance - £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package.
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
- Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care.
- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay.
- £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases.
