Locum Childcare Advocate – London Borough – Court attendance – Full TimeVenn Group is working with a well-regarded and collaborative local authority in London in their search for a Childcare Advocate on a locum basis for an initial 3-month role with a strong likelihood of extension.Details:Job Title: Childcare AdvocateHourly Rate: Up to £60 per hour umbrella with some subsidised travelLength of Contract: 3 months initially with high possibility for extensionWorking Pattern: Full-time – Court attendance in person and team meetings in person almost dailyDuties/Responsibilities:Working closely with the Group Manager and team lawyers to provide high-quality legal advocacy and representation in childcare proceedings.This will include, but is not limited to:Acting as an advocate on behalf of the Borough in public childcare cases at all court levels, including High CourtPreparing and managing complex hearings, often at short noticeDrafting legal documents including case summaries, skeleton arguments, and position statementsAdvising clients and team lawyers on evidence quality, case strength, and legal optionsManaging own diary, working autonomously while liaising closely with legal colleaguesKeeping clients updated on case progress and outcomesParticipating in training and development activities to support the team and client servicesEnsuring compliance with professional standards (e.g. Lexcel) and CPD requirementsPreferred Experience:Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a valid practising certificate in England and WalesRecent and significant experience in public childcare law, with substantial advocacy backgroundExpert knowledge of family law, court rules, and public childcare legislationExcellent oral and written communication, legal research, and negotiation skillsAbility to manage caseload and perform under pressureConfident using IT systems such as MS Word, Outlook, and electronic document/case management systemsWillingness and ability to attend court across the regionIf you are interested in this Childcare Advocate role in the London area, please contact the London office on 07441 916 456, or apply for the role on LinkedIn and I will give you a call!Venn Group is an equal opportunities employment business and employment agency and welcomes applications from all candidates.
