Who we are: DEEP is an international design and engineering company on a mission to make humans aquatic. We're doing this by advancing ocean exploration through the development of new technologies that will enable humans to live and work in underwater environments for longer periods of time.

Role Description: We are seeking a proactive and versatile Campus Operations Technician to support the day‐to‐day operation, maintenance, and continual improvement of DEEP Campus. This role plays a key part in ensuring our facilities, equipment, and training environments remain safe, efficient, and operationally ready. You will undertake a wide range of tasks from planned and reactive maintenance, inspections, minor repairs, and supporting training delivery, through to assisting marine operations teams with checks and inspections of water‐borne assets. This is a hands‐on, varied role ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem‐solving, working across different systems, and supporting operational teams in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:

  • Facilities Maintenance & Campus Support
    • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine inspections, and minor repairs across campus facilities.
    • Support reactive maintenance tasks to ensure minimal disruption to campus operations.
    • Conduct checks and servicing of building systems (e.g., HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and grounds equipment).
    • Assist with workshop, stores, and campus infrastructure upkeep to maintain safe working conditions.
    • Support the set-up, dismantling, and relocation of equipment for campus activities.
  • Training Course Support
    • Work with workshop and systems technicians to prepare equipment, training assets, classrooms, and practical areas ahead of scheduled courses.
    • Assist training teams with the mobilisation and demobilisation of practical training environments.
    • Maintain accurate records of asset status and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Marine Operations Support
    • Conduct routine checks, inspections, and basic maintenance on waterborne assets (e.g., small boats, floating platforms, and pontoons).
    • Assist systems technician teams in preparing assets for operational tasks and on-water activities.
    • Support the launching, recovery, and storage of marine equipment where required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Practical experience in facilities maintenance, site operations, marine, or similar technical/operational environments.
  • Ability to carry out basic mechanical, electrical, or building fabric repairs.
  • Confident in the use of hand tools, power tools, and general workshop equipment.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety, including safe systems of work.
  • Experience in inspecting or maintaining marine assets is desirable (training can be provided).
  • Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and around water-based environments.
  • Practical, hands-on, and mechanically/electrically minded.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Positive, team-focused, and willing to support across multiple operational areas.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a varied role with changing priorities.
  • Good communication skills and a strong commitment to safety.

Education & Professional Qualifications:

  • Vocational training or certification in a technical, building services, or maintenance-related discipline.
  • Experience or certification in marine operations, RIB or small vessel handling, or water safety.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
