We are looking for a hands-on Test Engineer to design, build, and operate custom testbeds supporting our clients' hardware development. You will play a key role in validating performance, durability, and compliance of cutting-edge systems across a range of demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities- Design and operate bespoke test rigs
- Plan and execute static, dynamic, fatigue, thermal, and vibration testing in line with internal specifications and international standards (e.g. MIL-STD-810H, IP/IK ratings, CE/UL requirements)
- Operate and maintain environmental chambers, vibration tables, structural test rigs, and data acquisition systems
- Analyse test data and translate results into clear, actionable design recommendations to support rapid product iteration
- Support the development, selection, and setup of testing infrastructure within ARD's in-house R&D laboratory
- Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to improve product robustness and reliability
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline) with a strong practical portfolio
- 3+ years of hands-on prototyping experience in a workshop, lab, or R&D environment
- Experience scaling test systems from prototype stage through to production-level validation
- Familiarity with UK, EU, and US testing standards and certification requirements
- Proven ability to design hardware test systems and develop or use automated test software
- Comfortable working independently within a small, high-performing engineering team
