Strategy & Regulation are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.The Carbon Modelling Lead (CML) will support carbon data capture, modelling, and reporting for the YW capital programme, focusing on whole life carbon emissions, including embedded and operational emissions. The CML will work collaboratively to enhance the delivery programme and support the company\'s transition to Net Zero.This role involves conducting sensitivity analysis on cost and carbon models, ensuring consistent application across projects, and maintaining an end-to-end process for carbon reporting and model updates. Additionally, the CML will contribute to understanding and modelling operational carbon emissions, driving improved cost and carbon assessment approaches, and providing guidance on reducing carbon emissions.Where you fit in:As our Carbon Modelling Lead you will: Lead the development of tools and models for estimating embodied and operational carbon outturn and reduction assessments at a project level, ensuring confidence in major capital programme projects. Maximize the quality and quantity of absolute values and derive confidence ratings in embodied carbon assessments within resource budgets. Contribute to the OFWAT Annual Reporting Embodied and operational Carbon commitments in an auditable and timely manner and track embodied carbon through the project lifecycle. Work with the Data Capture and Modelling Team to align cost and carbon models, suggesting new cost models where appropriate. Lead in the development of options for baseline definitions and target setting for embodied and operational carbon across the programme , sharing with YW stakeholders and presenting in audit Stay updated with best practices in whole life carbon assessment and reporting, promoting the use of carbon reduction hierarchy and highlighting evidence-based successes. What skills & qualifications you will need: Demonstrated understanding and detailed knowledge of embodied and operational carbon modelling and carbon accounting. Educated to degree level with excellent numerical, data handling, and modelling skills. Good understanding of the landscape with infrastructure carbon modelling and detailed knowledge of construction industry technical matters. Understanding of Whole Life Cost methodologies. Ability to manage, build, and improve effective internal and external working relationships. Experience in managing programmes of work to deliver time, cost, and quality outputs. High level of understanding of project performance metrics, including Earned Value Management. Ability to influence at all levels and adapt style accordingly to the audience. You will also benefit from having: Understanding of asset management processes and asset operation. Experience in financial management, including budgeting and forecasting. Experience and knowledge of water and wastewater sectors or broader utilities treatment processes. Proven track record in managing multiple multi-discipline engineering design and construction projects with capital expenditures exceeding £50 million.
