We’re on a mission to equip researchers and clinicians with reliable, accurate tools for quantifying nucleic acid analytes. As we move into an exciting stage of early commercial growth, we’re hiring a Business Development Lead to play a key role in our success.This role represents an excellent opportunity for a candidate with prior experience working in R&D in the life sciences who is now seeking to transition into a commercially focused position with lots of room for progression.The successful candidate will be responsible for driving Nanovery’s business development efforts, particularly within the biopharmaceutical sector. This includes identifying prospective partners, leading strategic outreach, negotiating commercial agreements, and helping shape the company’s market-facing strategy. The role will require close collaboration with both the executive team and technical staff, and will be central to the company’s early commercial success.Our Laboratories are based in Newcastle upon Tyne, offering a high quality and affordable lifestyle with great opportunities for exploring the outdoors and participating in culture. We would expect you to commute (within two hours) or relocate for this role to facilitate knowledge transfer and team integration. Our team embodies our company values of being ‘pioneering innovators that act with integrity and fortitude’ which have carried us from early technology conception to market entry.Responsibilities Identify, prospect, and build relationships with scientists and decision makers at biopharma companies that can benefit from our technologyDrive the entire business development pipeline, from lead generation and outreach to assisting proposal drafting, leading and closing commercial negotiations in line with KPIs Attend conferences, industry events, and meetings to become a respected voice for the companyEnsure outreach, record keeping, conference lead up and follow up is conducted in a disciplined and deliberate manner using tools such as a CRMWork closely with the executive and technical teams to refine positioning, messaging, and pricing strategiesCollect, analyse and share market intelligence from desk research and customer meetings to identify applications for technology and inform product strategyWhat you will need A Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related fieldA minimum of two years’ commercial or industry experience in R&DDemonstrable enthusiasm for business development Experience using and maintaining CRM systemsA strong desire and willingness to travel (up to 50% of the time) to build face-to-face relationshipsAn ability to collaborate closely with our R&D teams, quickly gaining a strong understanding of current and future technical capabilities.Excellent presentation, storytelling, and communication skillsA customer-centric mindset, with the ability to navigate and engage complex life sciences marketsDesirableExperience bringing a novel technology to marketAn existing network in biotech, pharma, or CROsExperience working in pharmaceutical companiesA strong understanding of commercial terms and contract frameworksStartup or spin-out experience, especially in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentWhat we are looking for in youEntrepreneurial drive, with a hunger to build and own successStrong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to engage internal and external stakeholdersHighly organised, disciplined, and methodical in approach to workA focus on listening to the customer and creating mutual, long-term value over short-term winsData-driven decision-making skills, with the ability to extract key insights and act on themResourceful, agile, and output-driven; able to push projects forward independentlyWhat we offerBe part of a startup at a pivotal early stageWork alongside world-class scientists, innovators, and entrepreneursCareer growth potential as we scaleA fast-moving, supportive, and mission-driven environment£45-60K starting salary with equity opportunitiesA chance to help shape the future of drug developmentTeam building and social activitiesAbout NANOVERYNanovery was founded in 2018 with a mission is to empower the development of next generation therapies and diagnostics with our NAN-based platform for quantifying nucleic acid sequences. This is an area of science that treats synthetic DNA as a biocompatible material for building objects or performing tasks and computation.NANs use the predictable behaviours of this synthetic DNA to create nanoscale devices which perform useful autonomous behaviours, hence the term ‘nanorobot’.You may imagine a DNA/RNA sequence as an input to our NANs, triggering a rapid cascade of reactions between DNA strands that amplify a signal.
