Mental Health Clinical Lead – Mindplace clinics

Location: Home and site based – travel to Bupa sites will be required

Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours) – Flexible options available

Salary: Competitive salary (depending on experience) + excellent benefits

The clinical community plays a critical role in delivering this strategy. Bupa's Mindplace service is a newly established and fast‐growing mental health offering, providing high‐quality, face‐to‐face mental healthcare in purpose‐designed locations across the UK. Mindplace responds directly to the increasing demand for accessible, safe and effective mental health services.

The Mental Health Clinical Lead is a pivotal role within this growth journey. The post holder will have responsibility for the clinical development, delivery and oversight of mental health services and products across Bupa's Mindplace centres nationwide. Working closely with clinical, operational and senior leadership colleagues, the Mental Health Clinical Lead will help shape the future direction of the service. They will ensure the highest standards of clinical practice and customer experience, stay abreast of evolving national guidance and best practice, and play a key role in supporting the safe, sustainable and high‐quality growth of Bupa's face‐to‐face mental health services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership & Strategy
    • Provide senior clinical leadership across Bupa Health Clinics' Mental Health services, working closely with the Clinical Head of Mental Health and Medical Director.
    • Deliver high standards of clinical governance, quality improvement, education and service development.
    • Deputise for the Clinical Head of Mental Health when required.
    • Act as a trusted clinical voice, leading by example and fostering a positive culture aligned to Bupa values.
    • Translate strategic objectives into operational delivery for frontline clinical teams.
  • Governance, Quality & Safety
    • Lead and contribute to clinical assurance, audit programmes, risk management and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure robust clinical policies, procedures and performance monitoring are in place and consistently applied.
    • Oversee incident management, complaints investigation, safeguarding, and Datix usage, promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
    • Chair and contribute to Mental Health clinical governance meetings as appropriate.
  • People Leadership & Workforce Development
    • Provide clinical leadership and support to Mental Health clinicians, practitioners and the Lead Therapist team (dotted‐line management).
    • Deliver clinical supervision, one‐to‐one leadership support, and pastoral guidance.
    • Develop sustainable CPD, education and career development pathways.
    • Support recruitment, workforce planning, engagement initiatives and Pulse survey action planning.
  • Clinical Delivery
    • Undertake regular clinical sessions in line with business needs.
    • Support consistent, high‐quality service delivery across Bupa clinics and partner sites.
    • Ensure adequate senior clinical cover and processes for urgent clinical enquiries.
  • Customer Experience
    • Oversee management of serious complaints and monitor customer feedback and experience trends.
    • Drive service improvements through data analysis, deep‐dives and targeted action plans.
    • Embed a culture of Connected Care and high customer service standards.
  • Business & Commercial Support
    • Provide clinical input to product development, tenders, sales, marketing, media and communications activity.
    • Support development of clinical content such as webinars, talks and written materials.
    • Work collaboratively with internal teams to support business growth and innovation.
  • Communication & Information Governance
    • Ensure effective, transparent communication between clinical teams and senior leadership.
    • Champion the use of technology and new communication approaches.
    • Maintain high standards of information governance, confidentiality and data protection.

Working Environment

Hybrid role involving clinic‐based and home working, with travel across UK Bupa clinic locations.

Essential Qualifications (One of the Following)

  • Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Doctorate level, BPS‐accredited, HCPC registered)
  • Accredited CBT Psychotherapist (PG Diploma, BABCP‐accredited)
  • Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist (Level 4+ diploma, BACP‐accredited)

Applicants must have substantial leadership experience in mental health services.
