We are recruiting an experienced Children's Registered Manager to lead a children's residential service in Birmingham. This is a key leadership role with full responsibility for safeguarding, compliance, team performance, and the delivery of high-quality care within a regulated setting.

About the role

You will lead the day-to-day operation of a children's residential home, ensuring it is safe, stable, nurturing, and fully compliant with Ofsted and Children's Homes Regulations. You will play a central role in improving performance, supporting your team, and delivering a service that achieves strong outcomes for children with emotional and behavioural needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operation of a regulated children's residential service
  • Act as the Ofsted Registered Manager
  • Ensure full compliance with Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Drive continuous improvement across safeguarding, care planning, and behaviour support
  • Oversee staff recruitment, supervision, training, appraisals, and rota management
  • Maintain robust systems for incident reporting, risk assessments, and documentation
  • Work closely with local authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals
  • Monitor service performance using audits, action plans, and compliance frameworks
  • Lead the home through inspections and implement improvement plans where required
  • Support the development of a positive, child-centred culture across the service

Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children & Young People's Services, or willingness to complete
  • Eligible to register with Ofsted
  • Significant management experience within a children's residential setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, compliance, and inspection readiness
  • Experience using care management systems, compliance trackers, and electronic recording platforms
  • Confident leading teams through change, improvement, or stabilisation periods
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
