About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced SISS (Station Information and Security Systems) Designer for an exciting contract opportunity based in Sheffield. This role offers the chance to support the upgrade and enhancement of a major UK railway station, delivering critical passenger information, communications, and security systems within a live operational environment.

Working within a multidisciplinary project team, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of station systems solutions, ensuring all outputs meet project requirements, client standards, and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed SISS designs covering:
    • CCTV
    • Public Address / Voice Alarm (PAVA)
    • Customer Information Systems (CIS)
    • Help Points / Intercoms
    • Access Control
    • Intruder Detection Systems
    • Networking / Communications infrastructure
  • Prepare design documentation including schematics, layouts, cable routes, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with civils, MEP, signalling, telecoms, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Undertake surveys, site visits, and support design assurance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant rail standards, legislation, and project procedures.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and provide technical design input.
  • Support installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities where required.

About You

  • Proven experience as a SISS Designer within rail or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of station systems integration and operational environments.
  • Familiarity with Network Rail standards and UK rail delivery processes.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Knowledge of GRIP / PACE processes desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Available to work on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week on site or in the Sheffield office.
