Location: Birmingham (Hybrid Working)Sector: Industrial / Commercial DevelopmentEmployment Type: PermanentSalary: £80,000 – £85,000 + £5,000 Car AllowanceAbout the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated Associate Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Construction Cost and Project Management Consultancy in Birmingham. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering large-scale industrial projects on behalf of commercial developers, supporting both pre- and post-contract activities.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS who enjoys working in a client-facing capacity, leading project delivery, and mentoring junior staff, whilst helping to grow and strengthen the consultancy’s industrial portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesLead cost management services across multiple industrial and commercial projects from inception to completion.Deliver pre- and post-contract services including feasibility studies, cost planning, tender documentation, and contract administration.Manage procurement strategies, tender analysis, and contractor negotiations.Oversee financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, valuations, change management, and final account settlements.Provide strategic cost advice to commercial developer clients, ensuring projects are delivered on budget and to the highest standard.Act as the main client interface, building and maintaining long-term relationships with key stakeholders.Support business development by contributing to bids, proposals, and networking.Mentor and manage junior members of the QS team, supporting their professional development (including APC support).Key RequirementsMRICS qualified (Chartered Quantity Surveyor) with strong cost management consultancy experience.Proven track record working on large-scale industrial, logistics, or commercial development projects.Strong understanding of construction contracts (NEC, JCT) and cost management processes.Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills with a commercial mindset.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently when required.Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.What’s on OfferCompetitive salary package plus performance-related bonus.Hybrid working model (office, site, and remote).Opportunity to lead major projects with blue-chip commercial developer clients.Structured career progression with potential to move into Director-level roles.Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
