Michael Swords Studio is a RIBA Chartered Conservation Architect and Heritage Consultancy, based in London. We specialise in the care, repair, and adaptation of historic buildings, particularly places of worship.We are currently looking to expand our team, with an Architect (recent Part 3) with a desire to work towards conservation accreditation, or an experienced Part 2 working towards Part 3, with experience in conservation and a strong interest in ecclesiastical architecture.The role will include:Preparation of heritage and planning documents, including Heritage Statements and Design and Access StatementsDrawing support for RIBA Stages 2–4Assistance with quinquennial inspections and faculty applicationsInput on reordering feasibility studies and conservation projects for churchesSupport with condition surveys, including preparation of marked-up drawings and survey reportsTechnical detailing, conservation-led design thinking, and archival or planning researchExperience in technical detailing is highly advantageous. We will also consider applicants with a technician background who demonstrate conservation expertise and a clear interest in ecclesiastical work.This is a remote-first role, ideally based in or around London, though we are also open to applicants located remotely, but with a willingness to travel when required for site visits.
