Overview: The Finance Director, MUFG Corporate Markets, will be based on a hybrid basis from our stunning city centre office in Leeds, providing commercial and financial support to the CEO of MUFG Corporate Markets and assisting the Group CFO on executive and board reporting, collaborating on the development of finance and management information systems and leading a high-performing team that will help drive financial best practice for the business globally. What you need:

  • Relevant senior leadership and professional qualifications in excess of fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • At least 10 – 15 years demonstrable experience in a leadership role within Financial Services or a financial institution
  • A global mindset with the ability to think globally, work globally and have the ability to enable business change globally
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence, influence and motivate others
  • Strong motivational leadership skills with the ability to manage financial risk and control activities in a complex, developing operation, all whilst driving results and fostering innovation
  • A comprehensive understanding of financial and strategic planning with the desire to shape the strategy
  • A proven ability to oversee multiple risk types, including credit, market, operational, investment, regulatory and strategic risk and specifically liquidity, refinancing, concentration and counterparty risk
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of dealing within a regulatory environment, with a sound understanding of key regulatory regimes in the jurisdictions in which MUFG Pension & Market Services operates
  • An ability to exercise oversight over governance, risk, compliance, and control arrangements in a complex financial organisation
  • A strategic mindset with outstanding organisational and leadership skills, commercial acumen and the courage, resilience, drive and determination to lead high performing teams
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels

Day to Day you will:

  • Work with the CFO to develop and evaluate both the short and long-term strategic financial objectives of the MUFG Corporate Markets business, in line with the overall business strategy
  • Provide the Executive Manager Team with advice and support on the financial implications of business activities and provide ongoing support to planning initiatives through financial data, MI, analysis, reports and recommendations
  • Support the production of the half year and full year results announcements to the market with analysis of half on half and year on year revenue, operating costs and earnings performance, with a focus on underlying business drivers and KPI’s
  • Ensure the timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts for the MUFG Corporate Markets business, including the management and preparation of Board report commentary each month, the highlighting of underlying business drivers for YTD variances to budget and material changes to the full year forecast
  • Support the CFO and GM Corporate Finance with relevant M&A activity, including, but not limited to, active participation and input into growth and investment opportunities for the MUFG Corporate Markets business and recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance
  • Lead whilst overseeing the preparation of the annual budget process and preparation of top-down targets BU timetables and the accuracy of cost centre budgets
  • Support the implementation of global financial strategies, policies, procedures and ways of working good practice for the business, cascading to the team and key stakeholder groups to ensure MUFG Pension & Market Services achieves its financial objectives
  • Take responsibility for month end accruals and other ad hoc journals, including supporting the annual and half year preparation of statutory financial statements and reconciliation of management accounts for the relevant business areas
  • Collaborate with the CSO, MUFG Corporate Markets on the production and presentation of the monthly Business Performance Review paper and supporting analysis, including KPI reporting, the analysis of trends and lead indicators, MI development and weekly reporting
  • Develop and lead a high performing, motivated team which will include development, coaching and mentoring practices that enable strong relationships and stability
  • Support the development of the strategic financial plan and long-term financial sustainability plan
  • Ensure full adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and the good conduct of the businesses, maintaining ongoing compliance and upholding the excellent reputation of MUFG Pension & Market Services
