Oracle Engineer in Cardiff

As an experienced Oracle Engineer you will develop, deliver and support the financial systems used by high profile clients across EMEA, playing a pivotal role in growing and shaping our Oracle function and driving the migration of Oracle Forms to APEX. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work day to day within cross-functional, agile teams alongside Product, Quality Assurance and support colleagues.

What you’ll do

The Oracle Engineer will be involved in the following activities:

• Develop, test and maintain Oracle PL/SQL for the financial systems used by our clients across EMEA.
• Interpret business requirements and user stories, and contribute to refinement, sprint planning and lean technical specifications.
• Create complex SQL statements, analyse data and model the data structures behind new and existing products.
• Drive the migration of Oracle Forms and Reports to Oracle APEX.
• Provide production support, investigating and resolving defects to keep client systems running.
• Mentor junior colleagues through problem resolution and help shape our Oracle standards and ways of working.

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience working as an Oracle Engineer, with demonstrable knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Database 12c or above.
• The ability to create complex SQL statements, analyse data and model data structures.
• Experience of modern tooling such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, Docker and Confluence.
• Oracle Forms and Reports development is desirable
• Experience of migrating Oracle Forms to APEX would be advantageous.
• Experience of automated PL/SQL testing would be advantageous.
• A collaborative and questioning approach, comfortable challenging ideas, supporting colleagues and taking ownership of quality.
