We are currently recruiting for a Long-Term SEN Teaching Assistant position within a primary school in Bromley. This is a rewarding role supporting pupils with a range of additional and complex needs.

Main Purpose of the Role
- Support the SLT and class teacher in planning and delivering high-quality learning for pupils with special educational needs.
- Provide general assistance in managing the classroom environment and supporting pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
- Promote inclusion, ensuring all pupils have equal opportunities to engage and progress.
- Provide classroom cover where required, delivering curriculum activities under the teacher’s direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils.
- Assist with planning, preparation and delivery of lessons across the curriculum.
- Support pupils’ learning, behaviour, independence and wellbeing under teacher supervision.
- Prepare and organise classroom and outdoor learning resources.
- Act as a positive role model, setting high expectations for behaviour and engagement.
- Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for pupils with SEN, including meeting physical and personal care needs when required.
- Support pupils in working towards EHCP outcomes and individual learning targets.
- Encourage cooperative learning, participation and positive relationships among pupils.
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes and lunchtimes as required.
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety, SEND, inclusion and data protection procedures.
- Attend training, meetings and development opportunities as needed.
- Support emotional and social needs, modelling positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate.
- Assist with school trips and off-site learning activities.
- Help pupils who are distressed, unwell or unsettled.
- Support basic literacy, numeracy and ICT development and adapt resources to meet individual needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning, Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education, or similar qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- GCSEs (A*–C / 9–4) in English and Maths.
- Experience working with children, ideally including SEN.
- Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities.

- Good organisational skills and ability to follow routines.
- Ability to build effective relationships with pupils and adults.
- Understanding of pupil needs and how to adapt support effectively.
- Knowledge of curriculum areas relevant to the role.

- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Good ICT skills and confidence using technology to support learning.
- Awareness of safeguarding procedures and requirements.
- Ability to observe, record and provide constructive feedback on pupil progress.
