Link3 Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a primary or secondary school setting in the DE1 area. This role is ideal for someone experienced in supporting pupils with additional or complex needs and who is committed to helping young people succeed both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
- Assist teachers in maintaining a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Deliver targeted interventions and contribute to individual support plans
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Support pupils in managing conflict and developing positive coping strategies
- Encourage engagement, confidence, and positive learning behaviours
Requirements
- Relevant experience supporting children with SEMH, SEN, behavioural, or complex needs in a school or similar setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to use de-escalation strategies effectively
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching, SEN, and pastoral teams
- A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of young people
