Freelance Working Foreman

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Working Foreman to join a well-established civil engineering contractor on a project in Stockton-on-Tees.
This is a hands-on site-based position, suited to an experienced Foreman/Site Supervisor who is confident leading site activities while also getting involved with the works directly.
The Role
As Working Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors and site teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and coordinating site operatives and subcontractors
- Assisting with the planning and sequencing of daily works
- Working hands-on alongside the site team where required
- Ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with RAMS
- Monitoring quality and ensuring specifications are followed
- Coordinating plant, materials and deliveries
- Liaising with the Site Manager and Project Management team
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety on site
- Reporting progress, issues and requirements to senior management
- Ensuring programmes and daily targets are achieved
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Working Foreman, General Foreman, Site Supervisor or similar
- Strong experience within civil engineering
- A good understanding of construction methods, sequencing and site operations
- The ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on
- Strong health & safety awareness
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Relevant site qualifications, ideally SSSTS/SMSTS and CSCS
- Previous experience working for a civil engineering contractor
