Freelance Working Foreman

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Working Foreman to join a well-established civil engineering contractor on a project in Stockton-on-Tees.

This is a hands-on site-based position, suited to an experienced Foreman/Site Supervisor who is confident leading site activities while also getting involved with the works directly.

The Role

As Working Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors and site teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and coordinating site operatives and subcontractors
  • Assisting with the planning and sequencing of daily works
  • Working hands-on alongside the site team where required
  • Ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with RAMS
  • Monitoring quality and ensuring specifications are followed
  • Coordinating plant, materials and deliveries
  • Liaising with the Site Manager and Project Management team
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety on site
  • Reporting progress, issues and requirements to senior management
  • Ensuring programmes and daily targets are achieved

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Working Foreman, General Foreman, Site Supervisor or similar
  • Strong experience within civil engineering
  • A good understanding of construction methods, sequencing and site operations
  • The ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on
  • Strong health & safety awareness
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Relevant site qualifications, ideally SSSTS/SMSTS and CSCS
  • Previous experience working for a civil engineering contractor
