With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team and help drive project performance.
As Lead Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial management of multiple groundworks and earthworks packages on commercial developments. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. This role is ideal for a commercially astute professional who is confident leading project commercial activities and mentoring junior surveyors.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the commercial management of groundworks and earthworks packages on commercial build projects
- Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts
- Administer NEC / JCT contracts and manage contractual obligations
- Value completed works and manage applications for payment
- Identify, price, and negotiate variations and change events
- Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts
- Monitor project performance against cost and margin targets
- Produce accurate commercial reports for senior management
- Provide leadership and support to junior quantity surveyors and commercial staff
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and site teams
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or groundworks
- Strong knowledge of earthworks, foundations, drainage, and infrastructure packages
- Experience working on new build housing/residential construction developments
- Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field (preferred)
- Membership of RICS or CIOB (desirable)
