We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a major Thames Water framework project supporting essential improvement works on a live operational water asset. This Section Engineer role will involve setting out, survey control, temporary works coordination, and support across complex civils activity including deep drainage, trenchless installation, and associated enabling works. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable Section Engineer who is confident working on technically challenging infrastructure schemes and is committed to safe, high-quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set out works accurately in line with contract drawings, specifications, and survey information.
  • Establish and maintain level and survey control for the contract.
  • Carry out regular checks to ensure works are built correctly and to the required standard.
  • Support the safe delivery of works and promote strong health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Monitor quality and ensure works are delivered defect-free and in line with project requirements.
  • Identify and report value engineering opportunities where appropriate.
  • Produce and maintain accurate site records, diaries, allocation sheets, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare procurement schedules and liaise with the procurement team to ensure resources are available.
  • Produce ITPs, task briefings, and two-week look-ahead programmes with the Site Agent.
  • Resolve technical issues and site challenges as they arise.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Previous experience working as a Section Engineer or in a similar site engineering role on civil engineering projects.
  • Experience in deep water infrastructure civils, including deep and trenchless drainage.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and relevant legal requirements.
  • Competent in managing temporary works.
  • Fully conversant with robotic total station or EDM equipment.
  • Degree, HNC, or equivalent in civil engineering.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Strong information control and RFI management experience.
  • Self-driven, results-focused, and proactive.
  • CSCS and SMSTS.

Desirable

  • AutoCAD and MS Office experience.
  • MEICA experience.
  • Underground service detection knowledge.
  • Lifting Appointed Person.
  • NRSWA Supervisor.
