About The Company

Our client is a well-established and growing Groundworks and Civil Engineering Contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure, housing developments, and commercial construction projects across the region. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will take commercial responsibility for multiple groundwork and civil engineering projects, including residential housing developments and commercial schemes from inception through to final account. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional looking to play a key role within a successful and expanding business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial aspects of multiple groundwork and civil engineering projects.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating subcontractor orders and agreements.
  • Valuing and certifying subcontractor applications and payments.
  • Producing accurate cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Identifying, pricing, and managing variations and change control.
  • Preparing and submitting client valuations and applications for payment.
  • Managing project budgets and ensuring commercial targets are achieved.
  • Conducting site visits and attending progress meetings with clients and project teams.
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager in delivering company commercial objectives.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team where required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Groundworks and Civil Engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge of residential housing infrastructure and plot works.
  • Experience working on commercial build infrastructure packages.
  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with major national housebuilders.
