We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in Durham, specialising in residential plotworks and groundworks projects across the North East. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused QS looking to play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure and housing development projects while working within a supportive and ambitious business.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial aspects of plotworks and groundworks contracts from inception through to final account.
- Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontractor packages and agreements.
- Valuing completed works and arranging payments.
- Producing cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Managing variations, compensation events and contractual claims.
- Monitoring project costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
- Supporting project teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships.
- Assisting with tendering and procurement activities for new projects.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks, civil engineering, infrastructure or residential development.
- Strong understanding of plotworks, roads, sewers and housing infrastructure packages.
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant commercial software.
- Full UK driving licence.
