An established and growing architectural practice in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Freelance Architectural Technician to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across the Healthcare, Commercial, Residential, and Education sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong professional who can work independently, contribute to project delivery from planning through to construction, and collaborate effectively within a busy design team.
The Role
- You will be responsible for producing high-quality technical information, coordinating project documentation, and supporting the successful delivery of projects across a range of sectors.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable managing their own workload while working closely with architects, consultants, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed technical drawings and construction information.
- Prepare and coordinate planning, building regulations, and construction packages.
- Develop and manage Revit models in line with BIM standards.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.
- Ensure projects comply with UK Building Regulations and relevant technical standards.
- Support project delivery through all RIBA work stages.
- Assist with technical problem‑solving and design coordination.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as an Architectural Technician or Architectural Technologist within a UK architectural practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK construction methods, detailing, and Building Regulations.
- Proficient in Revit with good BIM coordination experience.
- Experience delivering projects across one or more of the Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial, Education, or Residential sectors.
- Ability to manage workloads independently and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- CIAT accreditation or equivalent experience is desirable but not essential.
