We are recruiting for a high-calibre Senior Site Manager to lead the delivery of a substantial civils package on one of the UK's largest and most prestigious critical infrastructure programmes.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a flagship project where safety, quality, innovation, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.

You'll take ownership of a significant section of the works, leading multidisciplinary teams and driving successful delivery from construction through to completion.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of a major civil engineering package.

You'll provide leadership to site management teams, engineers, and subcontractors while ensuring programme milestones, commercial objectives, and quality standards are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a substantial civils package on a large-scale critical infrastructure project.
  • Provide visible leadership, embedding an uncompromising culture of health, safety, environmental compliance, and wellbeing.
  • Manage and mentor Site Managers, Engineers, General Foremen, and Supervisors, developing high-performing delivery teams.
  • Coordinate multiple subcontractors and interfaces across complex work fronts.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with programme, engineering specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Drive short-, medium-, and long-term planning to achieve key project milestones.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial, planning, engineering, logistics, and client teams to overcome delivery challenges.
  • Monitor productivity, programme performance, and resource utilisation, implementing improvements where required.
  • Chair operational meetings and maintain effective communication with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure robust quality assurance processes, inspections, and handover documentation are completed to the highest standards.
  • Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation measures to maintain safe and efficient delivery.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice throughout the construction process.

About You

You will be an experienced construction leader with a strong background in delivering complex civil engineering packages within major infrastructure environments.

You'll bring

  • Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager or an experienced Site Manager ready to step into a senior leadership role.
  • A successful track record delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects valued in the tens or hundreds of millions of pounds.
  • Strong technical knowledge across disciplines such as reinforced concrete, structures, earthworks, drainage, highways, utilities, or heavy civils.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and decision‑making skills.
  • Experience managing multiple work fronts, large site teams, and specialist subcontractors.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with clients, delivery partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to programme management, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.
  • A thorough understanding of CDM Regulations, construction health and safety legislation, and quality management systems.

  • CSCS Black or White Management Card
  • First Aid at Work
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Appointed Person or relevant lifting qualifications
  • NEC contract awareness
  • Experience working within highly regulated or critical infrastructure environments
