We are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer (MEICA) to join a leading civil engineering and utilities contractor delivering major capital investment projects across a long-term water infrastructure framework. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer (MEICA) to support the delivery of complex clean water infrastructure projects, including pumping stations, booster stations, pressure management systems and associated MEICA installations that improve the resilience and reliability of the water network.

Working alongside Project Managers, commercial teams and site delivery teams, the successful Project Engineer (MEICA) will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring MEICA works are designed, procured, installed, tested and commissioned safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the successful delivery of MEICA projects from detailed design through to commissioning and final handover.
  • Provide technical leadership for pumping stations, pressure systems, mechanical and electrical installations and associated water infrastructure.
  • Review and coordinate MEICA designs, technical specifications and engineering documentation to ensure buildability and compliance.
  • Manage the procurement of MEICA equipment, specialist subcontractors and suppliers to meet programme requirements.
  • Coordinate the installation, testing and commissioning of pumps, valves, transformers, MCCs, PLCs, LV switchgear, ICA, SCADA and telemetry systems.
  • Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) regarding electrical connections, power resilience and network interfaces.
  • Support the management of NEC contracts, technical change, early warnings and project documentation.
  • Carry out technical assurance reviews, inspections and quality audits throughout project delivery.
  • Assist with HAZOP, ALM, FAT and SAT activities, ensuring successful commissioning and system integration.
  • Work closely with design consultants, subcontractors, commercial teams and site management to resolve technical issues.
  • Supervise MEICA installation works, ensuring compliance with WIMES standards, project specifications and health and safety legislation.
  • Produce and review inspection records, commissioning documentation and project handover information.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement technical solutions to maintain programme and budget objectives.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients and framework stakeholders while providing regular technical updates throughout project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a Project Engineer (MEICA) or similar role within the water, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of pumping stations, water systems and MEICA installations.
  • Proven experience managing the design, installation, testing and commissioning of pumps, valves, transformers, RMUs, LV switchgear, MCCs, PLCs, ICA, SCADA and telemetry systems.
  • Experience delivering projects for regulated water companies using NEC contracts.
  • Good understanding of hydraulic systems, power resilience and liaison with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA or a related Engineering discipline.
  • SMSTS and CSCS are essential, with EUSR Water Hygiene highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of WIMES standards, HAZOP, ALM, FAT/SAT procedures and technical documentation.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
