You’ll provide technical, hands-on engineering support on-site from setup and setting-out through to commissioning and close-out, delivering projects such as treatment works upgrades, pumping station improvements, sewer rehabilitation and nature-based solutions that enhance biodiversity and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform setting-out, level checks and setting-out verification to design tolerances; produce and maintain accurate survey records and as-built information.
- Carry out quality inspections and testing to ensure works meet drawings, specifications and client requirements; raise and manage NCRs/defects and support remedial works.
- Support site setup and the Site Manager with implementation of company systems, method statements, RAMS and permit processes.
- Prepare, update and issue daily/weekly site engineering reports, progress records, site diaries and material/plant logs to support commercial and delivery teams.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, plant operators and operatives to sequence works and maintain programme progress; supervise and mentor junior technical staff.
- Assist with temporary works checks and handover of temporary installations to the Temporary Works Coordinator; ensure compliance with design and inspection regimes.
- Support commissioning activities and operational handover, including witnessing tests, assisting with SCADA/telemetry handover and liaising on water quality sampling where required.
- Contribute to cost control by logging materials, tracking plant usage and providing input to quantity surveying/estimating teams.
- Implement environmental controls and pollution prevention measures on site; follow ecological protection requirements and permit conditions.
- Use digital engineering tools (CAD, BIM viewers, survey/GNSS equipment) to produce and manage technical drawings and site records.
Qualifications & Experience:
- HNC/HND, Foundation degree or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent practical/site experience.
- CSCS card and SSSTS (or SMSTS) certification.
- Practical experience on water/wastewater projects (treatment works, pumping stations, sewer rehabilitation, river/culvert works) or framework delivery is highly desirable.
- Competence in setting-out, site surveying (total station/GNSS) and producing as-built records.
- Familiarity with construction drawing interpretation, QA inspection/testing regimes and site safety practices.
- Desirable additional qualifications: Confined Space, First Aid at Work, NRSWA/Streetworks, AutoCAD/CAD skills, CPCS plant tickets.
- Strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work under direction and take initiative on technical matters.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the operational region.

- Structured training and development package with support towards professional chartership.
- Tailored health & wellbeing offering and private medical insurance.
- 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy additional days.
- Enhanced pension scheme and 4x life assurance.
- Clear career progression within major frameworks and opportunity to develop technical and site leadership skills.
