Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sub Agent to join a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor delivering a major city centre infrastructure and regeneration project in Sheffield.
The Sub Agent will take responsibility for managing sections of highways, public realm and drainage works, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery while coordinating site teams, subcontractors and engineering activities within a live urban environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a section of works, ensuring delivery in line with programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise site teams, subcontractors, plant and resources to achieve key project milestones.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance across site.
- Ensure Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Permit to Work systems, site inductions and safety briefings are implemented effectively.
- Oversee highways, public realm, drainage and associated civil engineering works, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Produce and maintain site diaries, progress reports, quality records and project documentation.
- Monitor programme performance and provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager.
- Ensure Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality assurance documentation and handover records are completed and maintained.
- Build strong working relationships with the client, local stakeholders, site teams and the supply chain to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify and resolve construction challenges while driving continuous improvement, productivity and programme performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working as a Sub Agent, Site Agent or Senior Engineer on highways, public realm, infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.
- HNC/HND, NVQ or Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- SMSTS, CSCS Card and IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Experience delivering highways improvements, drainage, earthworks, reinforced concrete, paving or urban infrastructure works.
- Strong knowledge of programme management, subcontractor coordination, quality assurance, ITPs and engineering documentation.
- Proven ability to manage sections of work within live construction environments while maintaining safety, quality and programme.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project reporting.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
