Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Engineer to join a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor delivering a major city centre infrastructure and regeneration project in Sheffield.

The Site Engineer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of highways, public realm and drainage works by providing accurate setting out, engineering control and quality assurance, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out site engineering duties including setting out, surveying and engineering control across multiple work areas.
  • Provide accurate setting out information and technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
  • Complete as-built surveys and maintain accurate records and drawings throughout the project.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Monitor quality standards and assist with inspections, testing and handover documentation.
  • Support the delivery of temporary and permanent works while maintaining engineering accuracy.
  • Promote the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance on site.
  • Minimise material waste and ensure company equipment is maintained and used correctly.
  • Assist in mentoring Graduate and Junior Engineers where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to improve site processes, productivity and engineering best practice.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on highways, public realm, infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.
  • HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Competent using Total Station, GPS, EDM and surveying equipment for setting out and as-built surveys.
  • Experience working on highways improvements, drainage, earthworks, reinforced concrete, paving or urban infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance processes, ITPs, specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with site teams and subcontractors.
  • CSCS Card and Full UK Driving Licence.
