Lead compliance, safety, and design coordination across complex projects. A well-established architectural practice is looking to appoint a Principal Designer (Building Regulations & CDM) to join their team. This is a key role within the practice, supporting the delivery of compliant, safe, and well-coordinated design information across all project stages. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in architecture, building control, project management, or health and safety who enjoys working across design teams and influencing project outcomes from inception to completion.

Requirements
To be considered for the role, you will ideally have:
- Experience in architecture, building control, project management, or construction health & safety.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Understanding of HRBs and Gateway processes.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong attention to detail and compliance-focused mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence design outcomes and manage risk.
Desirable:
- Professional membership (RIBA, CIAT, RICS, CIOB, CABE or similar).
- Experience in Principal Designer or CDM advisory roles.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and digital coordination tools.
- Site inspection or construction stage experience.
The Role
As Principal Designer, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance and coordination across all project stages. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as Principal Designer under CDM and Building Regulations.
- Coordinating design risk and compliance information.
- Reviewing design packages for regulatory compliance.
- Supporting Gateway submissions and approvals process.
- Maintaining compliance trackers and project documentation.
- Attending design team and client meetings.
- Advising on Building Safety Act requirements.
- Supporting project teams across multiple sectors and stages.
- Carrying out site visits where required.
- Contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement.
