Our client are looking for an experienced planning manager to lead the planning function for a large scale, power infrastructure project in Elgin. The successful candidate will take ownership of project plans, ensuring on-schedule delivery, managing deviations, and providing technical guidance and mentoring to the team. You will work closely with Project Managers to maintain robust, logic-linked programmes, implement industry-leading planning processes, and produce clear reporting to support effective project delivery. This role is not fully remote - You'll be required to be on site 3 days per week, combining hands on project planning with leadership and development of the planning team. You must be willing to work away from home or be based locally for the duration of the project to be considered.
Duties
- Strong technical capabilities using Primavera and MS Project
- Proven leadership and team management skills, including mentoring and development of planners
- Expertise in developing and maintaining logic-linked project programmes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for monitoring and controlling project deviations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in risk identification, critical path analysis, and mitigation planning
- Ability to produce clear, insightful project reporting and progress updates
- Knowledge of project management principles and contract requirements (e.g., NEC)
- Experience with project controls and schedule quality assurance
Desirable:
- Relevant professional qualifications in project planning or management
- Familiarity with industry standards and contract forms (e.g., NEC)
- Technical degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline
- Reporting software experience (Power BI or similar)
