We have an opportunity for a Planner to join a busy Water Infrastructure team working on water mains renewal schemes for a major client framework. This Planner role will be responsible for developing, designing and helping to deliver renewal schemes from concept through to completion — working closely with clients, highways, subcontractors and stakeholders. What the Planner will do (Key responsibilities) * Act as the Planner lead for water mains renewal schemes, interpreting client requirements and developing the most appropriate design and delivery solution. * Undertake site meetings with the client, highway authorities and subcontractors to identify the best delivery method for schemes. * Produce construction design drawings and technical scope documents ready for costing and delivery (CAD knowledge preferred — e.g., AutoCAD). * Liaise with the client to ensure compliance with technical standards and scheme acceptance. * Produce the design solution, scope of works and construction programmes as the Planner responsible for the scheme timeline. * Ensure all planning criteria are met, including coordination of CDM requirements. * Liaise with highway authorities on street works requirements and NRSWA compliance. * Engage with private landowners and environmental / archaeological stakeholders as required. * Identify and coordinate any required customer communications and keep stakeholders informed. * Maintain effective communication and record-keeping throughout delivery and handover. Note: CAD knowledge is preferred. Water sector experience is preferred but not essential — we welcome Planners from related infrastructure backgrounds who can apply their design and programme skills. Candidate profile / Qualifications Essential * Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure. * High attention to detail and good problem-solving skills. * Health & safety aware with practical understanding of site-based risks. * Experience or awareness of street works and NRSWA requirements. * Proficient with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office. * Excellent communication skills — the Planner will need to engage multiple stakeholders. Desirable * CAD / AutoCAD experience or demonstrable drafting capability. * Previous experience in the water sector or utilities/infrastructure projects. * CDM awareness and experience producing construction programmes. * Relevant street works or technical qualifications.
