About The Company
Our client are a well-established and growing Groundworks and Civil Engineering contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure, groundworks, and external works packages across residential housing developments and commercial construction projects. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to recruit an experienced Site Manager to join their operations team.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of groundworks and civil engineering projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will oversee site teams, subcontractors, plant, and materials while maintaining strong relationships with clients, developers, and stakeholders. Projects will include housing plot works, roads and sewers, foundations, drainage, external works, and infrastructure packages for both residential and commercial developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all on-site operations from project commencement through to completion.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and site-specific requirements.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to achieve programme targets.
- Monitor progress against project schedules and report regularly to Contracts Managers and senior management.
- Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Ensure works are completed to specification and quality standards.
- Liaise effectively with clients, developers, local authorities, utility providers, and other stakeholders.
- Manage site documentation including RAMS, permits, inspections, and daily records.
- Identify and resolve site issues proactively to minimise delays and additional costs.
- Support commercial teams with programme updates, variations, and resource planning.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within Groundworks and Civil Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of residential housing developments and commercial construction projects.
- Experience managing roads, sewers, drainage, foundations, infrastructure, and external works packages.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Full UK Driving License.

- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- CSCS Management Card.
- First Aid at Work.
- Temporary Works awareness (advantageous).
- NRSWA Supervisor (advantageous).
