We are delighted to be working with a leading regional Construction business on the recruitment of a Managing Quantity Surveyor.
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across multiple projects while managing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors. Working closely with operational and senior management teams, you will ensure commercial excellence from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
- Oversee the commercial management of multiple construction projects.
- Ensure effective cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
- Manage procurement strategies and subcontractor accounts.
- Negotiate contracts and final accounts with clients and supply chain partners.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support bid and pre-construction teams with commercial input.
- Produce accurate monthly cost/value reports and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
About You
You will be an experienced commercial leader with a proven track record of delivering successful construction projects with values between £5m - £15m.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within a main contractor environment.
- Previous experience managing commercial teams.
- Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership and people management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
