Due to ongoing growth, our client is seeking an Estimator to join their business based in County Durham. They have a strong reputation in the North East, working across commercial construction, refurbishment, and civil engineering projects.
Using a bespoke system based on Excel, you will manage a diverse range of tenders. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for all aspects of a project, from tender through to completion. The role involves close collaboration with clients and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing. Additionally, you will analyse project specifications and drawings to determine the full scope of supply.
The successful candidate will demonstrate most of the following experience and attributes:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to plan and coordinate multiple construction tenders simultaneously, including effective diary management.
- Experienced Estimator with a background in working for a principal contractor (highly desirable).
- Previous experience in both commercial and domestic construction, including measurement and estimation of construction works (essential).
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and delegation abilities.
The Role Includes:
- Supporting operational teams, site supervision, and directors with any variations to the original scope of supply.
- Preparing cost budgets and estimates for construction and maintenance tenders.
- Project planning and cash flow forecasting for construction projects.
- Maintaining a flexible approach when working with internal team members, external clients, and suppliers.
- Managing the subcontractor tender submission process and subsequent package awards.
