Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design for varied infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practice (including energy controls and sustainability).
- Provide design input from concept through detailed design, including heating/cooling systems, CHP/boilers, flue/ventilation systems, HVAC, and building services.
- Manage the mechanical design team and support junior engineers.
- Deliver concept designs, specifications, cost estimates, and tender documentation.
- Produce manual and software-based calculations; CAD drawing production essential.
- Apply RIBA stage/BG6 design frameworks; create design packages in line with NES/NBS.
- Carry out site surveys, snagging/condition reports, and on-site project management.
- Attend internal/client design meetings; manage technical and on-site queries.
Requirements
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer.
- Chartered or working toward (e.g. CIBSE/IET).
- 5+ years' mechanical design experience in consultancy or contractor settings.
- Strong knowledge of CIBSE Guides, IEE Regulations, CDM, BS Standards, NES/NBS.
- Familiarity with RIBA/BG6 design frameworks and Revit/BIM UK Standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Amtech, Microsoft Office, Excel/Word, PDF, PowerPoint.
- Desirable: Revit, HTM/HBN healthcare standards, Dialux/Relux, Bluebeam.
