Join a specialist design team delivering mechanical and HVAC services across energy, water, healthcare, and complex building environments. You will lead design and delivery activities, mentor junior staff, and support control integration and client engagement across multiple UK sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for varied infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practice (including energy controls and sustainability).
  • Provide design input from concept through detailed design, including heating/cooling systems, CHP/boilers, flue/ventilation systems, HVAC, and building services.
  • Manage the mechanical design team and support junior engineers.
  • Deliver concept designs, specifications, cost estimates, and tender documentation.
  • Produce manual and software-based calculations; CAD drawing production essential.
  • Apply RIBA stage/BG6 design frameworks; create design packages in line with NES/NBS.
  • Carry out site surveys, snagging/condition reports, and on-site project management.
  • Attend internal/client design meetings; manage technical and on-site queries.

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer.
  • Chartered or working toward (e.g. CIBSE/IET).
  • 5+ years' mechanical design experience in consultancy or contractor settings.
  • Strong knowledge of CIBSE Guides, IEE Regulations, CDM, BS Standards, NES/NBS.
  • Familiarity with RIBA/BG6 design frameworks and Revit/BIM UK Standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Amtech, Microsoft Office, Excel/Word, PDF, PowerPoint.
  • Desirable: Revit, HTM/HBN healthcare standards, Dialux/Relux, Bluebeam.
