We are working with an exciting company that are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead Temporary Works Solutions on major infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to drive technical excellence, manage a growing design team, and ensure compliance with BS 5975.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Designated Individual for Temporary Works, overseeing procedures, staff appointments, and sub-contractor reviews.
- Lead design, production, and approval of Temporary Works Solutions, including stress assessments using steel, timber, and polymers.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis and develop 2D/3D models using AutoCAD, Inventor.
- Manage and mentor the design team, ensuring best practices and compliance.
- Collaborate with Operations, Project Managers, and Commercial Teams to deliver efficient design solutions.
- Review alternative build methods and stay updated on industry innovations.
- Liaise with clients and project teams to ensure compliance with statutory and industry standards.
- Oversee document control, design coordination, and value engineering opportunities.
- Ensure all work meets Health & Safety policies and best practices.
Requirements
- MEng/MSc in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status.
- 5+ years’ experience delivering design solutions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience in National Grid / Cadent / SGN / NGN specifications and BS 5975, Eurocodes preferred.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
